Nutrition is a vital part of healthy living, and interest in questions of nutrition is great. While an almost unlimited wealth of groceries is available, many people are disconcerted by constant scandals and no longer know what can be eaten safely. Some people just 'eat what they like', while others focus on a conscious, health-orientated way of eating.

The dtv-Atlas of Nutrition provides a well-grounded survey on all important questions in this field. It contains information about current subjects such as the state of nutrition in the world, irradiated and genetically altered food, illnesses caused by food, diets and important nutrition substances. An extensive bibliography and index complete the book.

Nutrition in the World - Nutrition Ecology - Designer's Food - Genetically Altered Food - Treatment and Processing of Food - Quality of Food - Household Processing of Food - Food and the Law - Toxins in Plants, Mushrooms and Animals - Medicine Residues - Radioactivity - Illnesses caused by Nutrition - Allergies to Food - Eating Disorders - Diets - Vegetarianism - Macrobiotics.

The dtv-Atlas series started in 1964 with its bestselling dtv-Atlas World History. It has been widely acclaimed for its unique way of highlighting the topics of each volume in separate units, combining vivid graphics on the left-hand pages with concisely written explanations on the right.

The subject areas covered by the dtv-Atlas series range from history to natural sciences, from architecture to music, from philosophy to health. dtv-Atlases are designed to be reference books useful for both experts and curious readers. The series is being regularly extended, and each Atlas is revised and updated upon republication. A list of all dtv-Atlases, including the number of editions and copies sold, is available.
